This is the MOST IMPORTANT question that you can ask yourself if you’re not achieving your goals – What is it that is actually stopping me? Why haven’t I done the things that I said I was going to do? Why am I not as far along as I should be?
The truth is, for 99.99% of us, there is NOTHING stopping us achieving our goals, only the devil that is procrastination. Remember, there are only three things that you need to succeed:
1. Belief
2. Action
3. A burning desire to succeed.
That is it, there is no magic formula or shortcut. You can buy every Personal Development book and $5000 tickets to Tony Robbins seminars, but ultimately, everything comes from within. No one can make the changes that you need to make, you just need to stop making excuses and get started! It really is as simple as that. No book or course is going to give you this, they may help, but ultimately its up to you to make the necessary changes.
Any of us that are entrepreneurs at any level know that entrepreneurship is not easy. Most of us will have faced some sort of adversity and/or setbacks in our entrepreneurial journeys, but the people who succeed are two things, resilient and extremely hard working, notice how I didn’t say hard working, that is not enough. Resilience and a ‘concrete’ work ethic come from having the three things mentioned above, belief in what you do, taking the right action, and aburning desire to succeed.
I wanted to save some of this material for a video but right now I’m speaking straight from the heart. Success is about differentiating yourself from the average Joe. Years ago I watched a documentary about Mike Tyson, and it showed him jogging at 4am. One of the reporters asked him why he was jogging so early, to which he replied words to the effect of “Because I know the guy I’m about to fight is still in bed.” This is what you’ve got to do, make sacrificesand differentiate yourself from your competitors.
To be a successful entrepreneur you need to be willing to work your butt off, all day and every day. This may involve sacrifices in the short term, and as Stephen Covey says “Begin with the End in Mind”. Think of the life you will have if you make sacrifices and put your all into your business for a year. When we see people like Alan Sugar, Donald Trump, Richard Branson and all the other rich and successful people in the world, we see their riches alone, but behind their riches were years of extremely hard work to get to where they are today.
One of these men worked harder than hundreds of Average Joe’s put together, but it paid off. We can learn a great deal from these guys. Keep working and keep learning.
