There have been some amazing stories of people becoming extremely successful online in a very short period of time. Here are some of the most inspirational examples.

1. Mark Zuckerberg 

A controversial character, Zuckerberg was recently named Time Magazine’s “Person of the Year 2010″. He is the founder of the biggest and fastest-growing online phenomenon, probably ever, the legend that is Facebook. Mark Zuckerberg is the world’s youngest ever billionaire. As of January 2011, Facebook has been valued at $50 billion. Enough said.


2. Pierre Omidyar 

Founded eBay in 1995. Who hasn’t heard of eBay!? This site single-handedly revolutionised online shopping, and almost sixteen years on eBay’s popularity seems to keep growing at an incredible rate. Pierre is only 43 years of age.


3. Sergey Brin 

Co-Founder of Google, at only 36 years old, he is currently worth $17.5 billion. Google is currently the most used Search Engine in the world, and biggest online company. A great quote from Brin: “We came up with the notion that not all web pages are created equal. 4. Jeff Bezos 

Founder of Amazon.com, his net worth is $12.3 Billion. He is 46 years old. Ironically, the current economic recession has worked in Amazon’s favour, as consumers flocked online to get bargains. Amazon was founded in 1994 and quickly became a billion dollar company.


5. Bob Parsons 

Founded GoDaddy in 1997, his net worth is easily more than $1 billion. Bob is quite a character, and famously got his ads banned from the Superbowl recently, but is a great businessman nonetheless. He is 60 years of age. GoDaddy is the biggest domain registrar on the web.


6. Jerry Yang

One of the co-founders of Yahoo, currently worth $1.3 billion, and 42 years of age. Yahoo was founded in 1994, and has been very successful, although in recent years it has really struggled to compete with Google. Still a great company nonetheless! Jerry is 42 years of age.

7. Chad Hurley

Hurley was one of the co-founders of another huge online phenomenon, Youtube. Youtube is one of the most highly trafficked sites on the internet. Videos currently account for two-thirds of web traffic, and by 2013 it is thought that they will account for up to 80% of total web traffic! This is undoubtedly one of Google’s biggest assets. Chad Hurley’s exact net worth is unclear but is at least $300 million. He is pictured below (right), with partner Steve Chen. Chad is only 33 years old.


8. Peter Thiel

Peter Thiel, 43, was one of Paypal’s co-founders, one of the most successful and popular online payment methods available. Paypal was sold to ebay for $1.5 billion in 2002. Thiel is personally worth $1.2 billion, and has significant investments in Facebook.


9. Evan Williams

He is 38 years of age and has founded extremely successful websites such as Blogger (acquired by Google in 2003), and Twitter, co- founded with Biz Stone in 2007, one of the most successful social media websites on the Internet. It is unclear Williams’ exact net worth, but is worth a significant amount, and has been behind some of the most successful websites in the world. Twitter is yet to be turned into a proper “business”.



10. Frank Kern

Although you might not see him in Forbes Magazine, Frank Kern is THE Internet Marketing Guru. Frank is famous for selling $18 million worth of someone else’s online product in 24 hours. These sort of figures are still unheard of today. Frank has a great slogan on his blog – Make Money|Help people|Have Fun. He has had some very famous and successful Internet Marketing products such as “List Control”.
