There have been some amazing stories of people becoming extremely successful online in a very short period of time. Here are some of the most inspirational examples.
1. Mark Zuckerberg
A controversial character, Zuckerberg was recently named Time Magazine’s “Person of the Year 2010″. He is the founder of the biggest and fastest-growing online phenomenon, probably ever, the legend that is Facebook. Mark Zuckerberg is the world’s youngest ever billionaire. As of January 2011, Facebook has been valued at $50 billion. Enough said.
2. Pierre Omidyar
Founded eBay in 1995. Who hasn’t heard of eBay!? This site single-handedly revolutionised online shopping, and almost sixteen years on eBay’s popularity seems to keep growing at an incredible rate. Pierre is only 43 years of age.
3. Sergey Brin
Co-Founder of Google, at only 36 years old, he is currently worth $17.5 billion. Google is currently the most used Search Engine in the world, and biggest online company. A great quote from Brin: “We came up with the notion that not all web pages are created equal. People are – but not web pages.” Below, Brin is pictured alongside Google Co-Founder Larry Page (Brin is the one on the right).
4. Jeff Bezos
Founder of Amazon.com, his net worth is $12.3 Billion. He is 46 years old. Ironically, the current economic recession has worked in Amazon’s favour, as consumers flocked online to get bargains. Amazon was founded in 1994 and quickly became a billion dollar company.
5. Bob Parsons
Founded GoDaddy in 1997, his net worth is easily more than $1 billion. Bob is quite a character, and famously got his ads banned from the Superbowl recently, but is a great businessman nonetheless. He is 60 years of age. GoDaddy is the biggest domain registrar on the web.
6. Jerry Yang
One of the co-founders of Yahoo, currently worth $1.3 billion, and 42 years of age. Yahoo was founded in 1994, and has been very successful, although in recent years it has really struggled to compete with Google. Still a great company nonetheless! Jerry is 42 years of age.
